Gas Migration in EBS and Geosphere (GMT)
Excavation of the EBS - Depressurisation of the GMT Cavern

During the course of the experiment, the GMT cavern and the EBS were pressurised to around 600kPa by continuous water injection into the backfill. Depressurisation of the cavern was achieved by stepwise reduction of water injection into backfill and a controlled extraction of water from the backfill and silo.

In total some 30m3 of water was removed during the dewatering stage.
