Gas Migration in EBS and Geosphere (GMT) - Removal of sand/bentonite by layers to top of concrete silo

The upper most layers of the sand bentonite were very carefully excavated to minimise the potential disturbance of the silo, to avoid damage of the instrumentation and to preserve any structural alteration of the layers below which may have arisen from the water and gas injection.
